Alcohol units and standard drink calculator
Enter the size, ABV, and quantity to turn a drink label into a UK unit or U.S. standard-drink estimate.
Measurement tool
Calculate from the label.
Use the amount in one container, its ABV, and how many you had. This tool measures alcohol; it does not estimate blood alcohol, impairment, sobriety time, or when it is safe to drive.
Your estimate
That is 16.5 ml of pure alcohol across 1 drink.
What this calculator uses
ABV means alcohol by volume. The tool first finds the pure-alcohol volume: volume × ABV ÷ 100 × quantity. For UK units, it divides that result by 10 ml. For the U.S. setting, it divides it by 0.6 fluid ounces (about 17.7 ml), the size of a U.S. standard drink.
Definitions vary between countries, so this page supports only the two systems explained here. The UK formula comes from the NHS alcohol-units guidance. The U.S. definition comes from NIAAA’s standard-drink guide.
A standard drink is a measurement, not a judgement about a person or a recommendation for a particular night. If you are tracking a week, pair the number with the setting and timing that made it happen.
